Okay, I'll start by saying that simply put, I was spoon fed on Chevrolets. My mother always had some kind of hot rod chevy, usually a Corvette, with a scattering of Chevelles, Malibus, and Pickup trucks along the way.

As a matter of fact, my first car was a 1978 Chevy Nova 2 door which I purchased from my grandmother.

Mine was light blue metallic, with a 305 V8 and a light blue vinyl interior. When I took possession of the car, it had over 250K miles on it. It was well over 300K miles when I sold it, and it was still running strong but surrendering to rust.

It was, for all intents and purposes and excellent car. At the time gas was cheap. I drove it's wheels off and only wrecked it twice.

The first accident was because I had skinny tires on the front and wide tires on the rear and one evening while snowing, the front wheel caught in a pile of snow on the centerline of the highway, and caused the car to veer into an embankment. No real damage.

The second incident was when the carburetor return spring snapped. This caused the car to accelerate wildly, on a gravel road. I took out 100 feet of fence, a small Poplar tree and ended up in a vegetable garded. Unfortunately for me, the vegetable garden was on top of a guy's underground house. Other than the damage to his property, the car was unharmed.

I decided I needed a smaller car, that was more reliable, and got better gas milage.
