Here are a few of the random Moose Rants, on any topic that seemed to fit.

Enjoy.

PostHeaderIcon We see the problem, why don't they?

money_blindI'm fairly certain that if you and I sat down while enjoying a tasty beverage, we could identify most of the problems plaguing the United States. Our concerns would probably be echos of the concerns of our parents, only changed ever so slightly to prevent being accused, of being our parents.

We would probably point the blame at one political faction or another, and say if it weren't for "so-and-so", this country wouldn't be in this mess. Chances are we would both be right without regard to which political faction we accused. I could say red, you could say blue or vise-versa and in the end the general consensus would be that there is a problem even if it's really purple's fault.

PostHeaderIcon The Death of Common Sense

193003Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth record...s were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:

PostHeaderIcon Somewhere, it all went wrong.

Thomas-Jefferson"The central bank is an institution of the most deadly hostility existing against the Principles and form of our Constitution. I am an Enemy to all banks discounting bills or notes for anything but Coin. If the American People allow private banks to control the issuance of their currency, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the People of all their Property until their Children will wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered." -- Thomas Jefferson

PostHeaderIcon Insurance Companies, spending your premium on advertising.

geicogeckoOkay, damnit, I'm sick and tired of hearing how Geico is the 3rd largest insurance company in the nation. Personally I don't give a damn. Geico had up to 5 different insurance campaigns running at once. The money with the googly eyes, the caveman, the gecko, the power sports, just to name four.

While considering this, I was reminded of the cost of running an advertisement on the local cable company. For a month, on three channels, one 30 second commercial randomly through out the day, with up to 5 runs per day was well over $800.

So how much is Geico paying for these multiple national campaigns that seem to run 24 hours per day 7 days per week? Some where, it seems, on one of the 500 channels, there is a Geico commercial running.

Personally I feel Geico should cut it out, and give their customers a break on premiums...

PostHeaderIcon TSA Invading Privacy

tsaI rarely fly. I would rather spend two days in a car to drive somewhere, rather than submit myself to the hyper-invasive TSA security checks.

Here are a few points I should make.

PostHeaderIcon What do you mean three kinds of hot?

Last night, since we were both in Lexington at the same time, the wife and I decided to have dinner.

My day had already been stressful, and full of insipid questions from stupid computers.

My wife arrived before I did, and went ahead and got a table.

The waiter came to the table and asked what I would like to drink. "Sweet tea, no lemon" I said and made  point of stressing the no lemon part.

After about 10 minutes, our drinks arrived.
